I speak to a number of existing and potential customers every day and it is clear that everyone has the same understanding; There is not a single job board that has a monopoly on all job seekers. If your perfect candidate uses just one or two job boards to look for their next role, as job seekers tend to do, and you didn’t post your job there, they won’t see your advert.
Despite this key understanding, many businesses still only advertise on one single job board along with their own website or social media feeds. When I have the conversation as to why, the answer, more often than not, is purely down to the cost. They can’t afford to invest any more of their valuable budget into advertising on another job board. Unfortunately, by the time I am speaking with them, they have already made their investment and are frustrated that they didn’t know about That Recruit before they committed.
I maintain contact with many of these businesses for the remainder of their advert to see what the result is and to make sure they know we are on hand to help should they need to advertise the role again. I utilise our brilliant copywriting team to undertake a review of the existing advert and offer suggestions on how to make it more engaging to candidates before publishing the ad on up to 1200 job boards. Of course, this eliminates the issue of their perfect candidate only using one or two job boards because their advert is now casting a much wider net.
One particular customer has, in the last week, received 166 applicants for a role that garnered just 15 when advertised on one single job board. To say they were pleased with that would be an understatement and I can’t wait to provide them and other companies with the same low cost, high-value service.

We usually use recruitment agencies, however for this particular vacancy it seemed more appropriate to try a cheaper recruitment option. In setting up the initial advert it was very easy and quick, and the staff at ThatRecruit were very helpful and efficient in coming back to me and in authorizing the advert. The software to manage the vacancy was easy to use and the ability to mark candidates with a status was helpful. As an improvement it would be useful to be able to select all those marked as rejected and be able to bulk message them with a decline message or have an option to allow the candidates to see their status. Overall it’s been easy to manage this recruitment placement through ThatRecruit and we had an exceptional response to the advertisement with 72 applicants and having to close the advert early.
