Where to advertise

Being in the recruitment business we’re always looking at options that answer the question of ‘where to advertise jobs’. We thought it would be fun to put together a top five list of where to advertise everything, other than jobs!

Advertising a house for sale?

Advertising property is big business in the UK and the property industry has been transformed over recent years. There are a number of key players in this space that bridge the gap between buyers, sellers and agents. The undisputed king is Rightmove. Wikipedia says:

Rightmove plc is a UK-based company that runs www.rightmove.co.uk, the UK’s largest online real estate portal and property website. It is listed on the London Stock Exchange and is a constituent of the FTSE 250 Index.

Advertising a car?

Instead of part exchanging vehicles, private sales have become more and more popular with the rise of the internet. Where property has seen a new player enter the market, the car market has seen the survival of the market leader with Auto Trader. Autotrader was founded in 1975 and today has revenue in excess of £250m. Wikipedia says:

Auto Trader Group plc is an automotive classified advertising business. It specialises in new and second hand automotive sales, including cars sold by private sellers and trade dealers

Advertising your old stuff?

In 2016 there really is no excuse for clutter. There are thousands of sites who are keen to get hold of your old CDs, clothes, antiques and just about anything else you have lying about in the back of a drawer. The undisputed king of this market is eBay. eBay.co.uk has a global rank of 61 according to SimilarWeb along with total visits of 409m! Wikipedia says:

eBay Inc. is an American multinational corporation and e-commerce company, providing consumer-to-consumer and business-to-consumer sales services via the Internet. It is headquartered in San Jose, California

Advertising your business for sale?

Another growing area of the internet is the sale of trading businesses. Lots of unique portals give SME owners the opportunity to market their business to prospective buyers. The UK’s largest and most popular portal for business purchase opportunities is Daltons. Daltons say:

The Daltonsbusiness.com website was launched in 2001 as an online channel for the Daltons Weekly newspaper which was published from 1870 until 2011…More than 25,000 businesses and 200 franchise opportunities are listed on Daltons Business. Typically 95,000 business buyers visit the website every week and we generate an average of 27,000 buyer enquiries to business and franchise sellers every month.

Advertise a room to let?

We covered traiditional purchases and lettings earlier, however looking online is a great way of finding opportunities for non traditional letting. Whether it is a student let, a flatshare or if you’re looking to make the most of your spare room, SpareRoom is the UK’s busiest flatshare site. Spareroom say:

We’re SpareRoom, the UK’s busiest flatshare site. Every three minutes, someone finds a flatmate with us. That’s a lot of people, meaning more choice for you – and more chance of finding flatmates you really click with.

What our clients say about us

We usually use recruitment agencies, however for this particular vacancy it seemed more appropriate to try a cheaper recruitment option. In setting up the initial advert it was very easy and quick, and the staff at ThatRecruit were very helpful and efficient in coming back to me and in authorizing the advert. The software to manage the vacancy was easy to use and the ability to mark candidates with a status was helpful. As an improvement it would be useful to be able to select all those marked as rejected and be able to bulk message them with a decline message or have an option to allow the candidates to see their status. Overall it’s been easy to manage this recruitment placement through ThatRecruit and we had an exceptional response to the advertisement with 72 applicants and having to close the advert early.
